Robert F. Ruddy, 86, a resident at Wayne Woodlands Manor, died on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lorraine Crocker Collins on May 7, 2008.

Born on December 5, 1928 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Gerald E. and Rosena Delaney Ruddy. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Bob began working at Sullum’s in Honesdale and when he turned 16, began driving taxi in Honesdale. He later worked for Moore Business Forms, SJ Bailey & Sons, B&B Dodge and was the original owner and operator of Maple City Transit.

Bob will be remembered as a kind man who would do anything to help others.

Surviving is his sister, Diane Ruddy of Honesdale; his son Jeffrey Ruddy and wife Maria; step-sons Jim Collins and wife Loretta, Gerald Morcom, and Jack Collins and wife Sheila; a step-daughter Suzanne Edwards; his niece Peggy Coar; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 26th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Tuesday, 4 to 6.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
