Rev. Robert Frederick Nurnberger, 81, of Peckville, PA, formerly Hawley, PA departed his earthly home to rest eternally with his Heavenly Father on May 4, 2026. He spent his final days surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.

Born on February 27, 1945, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, to the late Alice Ingram and Robert Nurnberger, Bob’s life was defined by a sense of wonder and a heart for service. In his youth, he was fascinated by the stars, spending countless hours gazing into the heavens through his telescope-a curiosity that eventually evolved into a profound, lifelong faith.

After honorably serving in the United States Air Force and graduating from Bethel Bible College, Bob worked as a dedicated security guard, receiving numerous awards for his commitment to community safety. His protective nature and spiritual calling eventually led him to New Covenant Fellowship, where he served as Pastor for 40 years.

Bob was a man of deep compassion and “servant leadership.” His ministry reached far beyond the pulpit, touching lives through prison ministries and mission work in schools across Haiti and the Philippines. Yet, his most selfless role was that of a single father to his daughters, whom he raised with sole devotion and unwavering support.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa; his daughters, Jessica Nurnberger (Bill Klinetob) and Candice Kobrynich (James); his stepson, Jason Weber; and step-daughters, Colleen Garrett and Christine Weber. He leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Emily, and four grandsons through marriage, Aleksandr (Kobrynich), Louis, Miles, and Nathan (Garrett). He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, John, James, and Richard.

A memorial service will be held on May 14, 2026 at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA at 1 pm, with a brief visitation at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dementia Society of America, https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mid Valley Health Care Center and Sacred Heart Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Bob during his final journey.

** A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at The New Covenant Fellowship, 32 Columbus Ave., Hawley, PA at 2 pm.
