Rita Marie Bellamy, 86 of Honesdale, died on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband C. Vernon “Junny” Bellamy on Sept. 4, 1996. The couple married on September 2, 1947. Born on April 27, 1927 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Hilda Moll Melody. Rita and her husband lived in the Philadelphia area where she worked for SmithKline Pharmaceutical Corporations. Following their retirement, they moved back to Honesdale. She was of the Roman Catholic faith. Rita enjoyed painting, shopping, bird watching and taking care of her home and yard. Because of her great personality and energy, Rita made many friends wherever she went. She was always full of life and very grateful for all her friends and family who were a part of it. She was well known in the community, cherished by her family, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her brother Francis “Butch” Melody and wife Carol of Haines City, FL; her sister Theresa “Betty” Brock a resident at Wayne Woodlands Manor; her brother-in-law Ronald Bellamy and wife Edith of Jefferson Twp, many close friends including Joanne Wiley of Hawley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; many cousins. As per her request, private funeral services will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at the convenience of her family. Interment will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery.
