Rita E. (Warfield) Hazen, 96, of Equinunk, died on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Henry A. Hazen on December 9, 2009. The couple married on December 15, 1946.

Born on May 14, 1925 in Equinunk, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Sarah (Osborne) Warfield. She was a graduate of Hancock Central High School.

Following her graduation, she worked as a secretary in Binghamton, NY. A loving housewife and mother, Rita worked in housekeeping, laundry and the infirmary at Camps Indian Head, Equinunk and Blue Ridge before retiring.

She was a member of the Union Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid Society. She was a former member of the Equinunk Historical Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion, Post # 765.

Surviving are her sons, Alan Hazen and wife Mary, Roger Hazen and wife Pat, Thomas Hazen and Barbara; daughters Elizabeth Mosher and husband Stan, Patricia Hessmiller and husband Tom; a sister Ida Oakley; grandchildren, James Hazen, Anthony Hazen, Matthew Hazen, Joseph Mosher, Ann Mosher Schies, David Mosher and Jennifer Hessmiller; 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Joshua Hessmiller, Lisa Hazen and Susan Hazen; brothers Fred and Charles; sisters, Nina, Margaret, Mary, Janet and Alice.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 18th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at noon. Friends may visit on Saturday, 10 until the time of service. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Equinunk.
