Richard Schofield

Richard Thomas Schofield, 54, of Beach Lake, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Regional Hospice in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Vera Lyn Blaine of Virginia Beach, VA. The couple married on July 21, 1990. Born on April 8, 1959 in Pequannock, NJ, he is the son of Richard Edward Schofield of Beach Lake and the late Doris Natalie Weissbach Schofield. Rich was a talented general contractor, working for himself and several construction companies in the area. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and classic cars. Above all, Rich loved being with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. Also surviving are his sons Joshua Schofield of Beach Lake and Andrew Schofield of Virginia Beach, VA; his daughter Christina Badgley and husband Drew of Beach Lake; brothers Charlie and wife Cathy of Fairlawn, NJ, Steven and wife Kelley of Vernon, NJ, Brian and wife Kelly of Riverdale, NJ; his sister Doris Holzman and husband Doug of Beach Lake; his grandchildren Ayden, Isabella and Alexandria Schofield and Richard Badgley; his longtime friend Frieda Savacool of Honesdale; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Catelin Gummoe. Cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale and a memorial service will be held at the families convenience.
