Richard “Dick” James Powner, 82, of White Mills, died on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joan Manzoni on February 14, 2015. The couple married on July 6, 1961.

Born on March 30, 1940 in Paterson, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles Powner and Marion DePuy. Dick proudly served in the US Army. He later worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator in New Jersey. He was a member of the IUOE Local 825.

After settling in White Mills with his family, Dick became an active member of the White Mills Fire Dept. and enjoyed his time with the Sunday Firemen’s Crew (Hospice Club). He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He and Joan loved spending time together traveling in their RV. Dick also loved spending his summers by his pool with family and friends.

Also surviving are her children Barbara Daigeaun of White Mills, Donna Highhouse and husband Robert of Damascus, and Steven Powner and companion Lynn Price; grandchildren Heather, Ashley, Cory, Bobby, Megan, and Cortney; great grandchildren Taylor, Gerry, Addison, Alexis, McKenzie, Jacob, Collin, Stephanie, Elena and Jocelyn. He is also survived by his brother, John Powner of Lincoln Park, NJ; his sisters, Betty Lougheed of Lincoln Park, NJ and Marion DePuy of PA; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie DePuy.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5th at the White Mills Fire Hall at 2 pm. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
