Meszler Burial Date May 9, 2025 Funeral Home Hessling Funeral Home Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Rembert Giles Meszler Sr., 82, of Honesdale, died on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Sharon L. Firmstone. The couple married on October 15, 1966. Born on October 12, 1942 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Philip and Bernetta (Smith) Meszler. Rem worked many years as an auto mechanic and retired as the service manager at Narrowsburg Motors. His career as an auto mechanic blended with his personal life and his love for antique cars. He found joy in working on old cars and owned many over the years. He enjoyed taking them to car shows to share what he had accomplished. Rem had a knack of being able to fix anything. He and Sharon enjoyed traveling the world together. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing games and working on puzzles. He was a past member of the Alert Hook and Ladder Co. #2 and St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale. Surviving are his children, Rembert Giles Meszler Jr. and wife Lisa of Honesdale and Lisa Marie Meszler of Nazareth; his brother, Jerome Meszler and wife Irene of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Jayden Mattea Meszler Lyon and Noah Giles Meszler Lyon; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Celestine MacIvor and husband James. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honesdale. Friends may visit on Thursday, 5 to 7 and on Friday, 10 am until the time of service.
