Randal F. Fries, 73, of Prompton, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Regional Hospital in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Sharon E. Iloff. The couple married on April 6, 1974.

Born on March 13, 1948 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late William and Doris (Champion) Fries. He was a graduate from Honesdale High School and received an associates degree from Penn State University. He was a US Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War.

For many years, Randy owned and operated Randy Fries Welding and Fabrication in Prompton. A fixture in the Prompton Community, Randy was a member of the Prompton Fire Department and the Prompton Methodist Church. He also enjoyed getting together with friends in the morning for coffee at his shop. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Hawk’s Nest Rod and Gun Club. Most of all, he enjoyed visits from his grandchildren.

Also surviving are his daughters Kristen Brundage and husband Jeffrey of St. Claire, MI and Kelly Flowers and husband Corey of Myerstown, PA; his son Max Fries and wife Jimmie Ann of Prompton; his sisters Andrea Schweighofer and husband Joseph and Nancy Gilbert and husband Gary all of Honesdale; sister-in-law Lorna Fries of Prompton; grandchildren Lily and Carley Fries, Rylan and Reygan Flowers, Lydia, Forrest, Ezekiel and Isaiah Brundage.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lawrence Fries and sister Michelle Fries.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
