Phyllis Gail Bishop, 79, of Honesdale, died on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center in Lake Ariel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil “Ace” Bishop on August 30, 2007. The couple married on January 26, 1963.

Born in White Mills, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Tessie (Smith) Herzog. She was a graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School. For 28 years, Phyllis worked as a cook at Wayne Memorial Hospital before retiring.

Phyllis was a member of the White Mills United Methodist Church, its Women’s Society, was active in its Youth Group and taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed meeting her friends and playing cards with the White Mills Card Club. She was a member of the Red Hatters and the Fireside Travelers. She was a former leader for the White Mills 4-H and enjoyed her time on Mission Trips to Georgia and West Virginia helping those in need.

Most of all, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their activities.

Surviving are her daughters, Connie Herzog and husband Vincent of Waymart, Tammie Diglio and husband Everett of Honesdale and Patricia Vanegas and husband Santiago of Massillon, OH; her grandchildren, Helen Landmesser and husband Doug, Colton Herzog and wife Kara, Andrew Mitchell and wife Jacey, Matthew Mitchell, Tina Diglio and Samantha Bryant and husband Matt; great grandchildren, Brooke Lily Rose Bird, Sophia Diglio, Amelia and Avery Mitchell, Addison Herzog and Matilda Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Gregory and grandson, Everett “Bucko” Diglio.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Julia Ribaudo and Compassionate Care Hospice for their exceptional care.

Funeral services will be held at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Saturday, Dec. 10th at 11 am. Friends and family can come to celebrate the life of Phyllis on Saturday, 9 until the time of service. Private interment will be in Indian Orchard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
