Philip L. Goyette

Philip Louis Goyette Jr., 85, of Honesdale PA, passed away Saturday March 4, 2023 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida with his wife Judy at his side.

Phil was born on September 27, 1937 in Bridgeport CT. He is the son of Philip Goyette and Helen (Barna). After college he began his family in Fairfield CT. Shortly after he moved to Honesdale PA to establish BGM Fastener Company. A small family business which continues to be operated by his son Peter.

Phil spent the next 49 years dedicated to his business, family, and community. He was involved with many community programs including Honesdale Biddy Basketball, Wayne County Teeners League, Wayne County Human Resource Center, member of St. John the Evangelist Parish and coordinator of its high school youth group, and a member of the Honesdale Golf Club.

Phil enjoyed taking his family and friends on his boat or in his RV on many trips over the years. Another one of his passions was restoring classic cars with his grandson Spencer. He also loved being outdoors on one of his many pieces of equipment breaking in new trails.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy (Brownell) of 61 years, a son Peter and wife Heidi (Smergut), a daughter Judi, grandchildren Sydney, Spencer, and Sophia all of Honesdale; sisters Louise (Wrynn) of Bridgeport CT and Patricia Goyette of Fairfield CT; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 29th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Honesdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Phil to St. John the Evangelist Church, 414 Church St, Honesdale, PA, 18431.
