Pauline Naring

Heaven opened its gates (the “Pearly Gates”) and welcomed its most beautiful angel on July 16, 2026. Pauline Sophie Bociarski-Naring, 93, passed away peacefully with her loving daughters by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Gustave Naring on September 23, 2016. The couple married on June 28, 1952.

Born on April 19, 1933 at the family home in Cold Springs, she was the daughter of the late Witold and Helen (Koreiwa) Bociarski.

Some people have a way of making everyone around them feel loved, and Pauline was one of those rare gifts. She lived her life with a heart anchored in faith, trusting God through every season and sharing His love with everyone she met. Her greatest happiness was found in the people she loved most. Nothing brought a bigger smile to her face or more joy to her heart than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She celebrated their accomplishments, cherished every hug and laugh, and loved watching her family grow. She never missed a Grandparent’s Day at school or a birthday even though sometimes miles away! Though she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing she is now at peace with the Lord, and reunited with her loving husband, Gus. Her legacy of faith and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, relative, and friend.

Throughout her life, she held various jobs, most notably dedicating many years to the Katz Underwear Factory. Her true passions, however, lay in cooking, nurturing her beautiful flowers and enjoying the company of the fluttering butterflies outside her window.

A faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale, Pauline was a woman of strong faith who prayed for her family and loved ones daily. Even after she was no longer able to attend mass in person, she continued practicing her faith by attending Heart of the Nation television mass each week, and by reading scripture and the weekly church bulletin faithfully provided by her friend Theresa.

She was the heart of her family, and family/holiday gatherings will never be the same without her and her personally written mealtime prayers and delicious food. Anytime a butterfly shall cross our paths let us be reminded of her enduring love, her beautiful spirit, and the quiet ways she continues to be present in our lives. A special thanks to all who made this final chapter of her life a beautiful, memorable one.

A special thanks to her good friend, Lisa who was always there for her and shared many great conversations, lunches and cups of coffee with her on a regular basis. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Gager of Honesdale and Kathleen Miserendino and husband Charles of Hanover, PA; her sisters, Helen Mosher of Newport News, VA and Sophie McConnell of Honesdale; her grandchildren, Ryan Gager (Stacy), Carrie Gill (Daniel), Gregory Miserendino (Kelly) and Anthony Miserendino (Kavita); great grandchildren, Malea and Abigail “Abby” Gill, Vincent “Vinny,” Peyton, Aslynn and Laylah Miserendino; many nieces, nephews and good friends.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rudy Gager and her sisters, Mary Eggleton, Jenny Tuleya, Anna Acker, Ida Burkavage, and Vicki Bidwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Honesdale. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, July 23rd from 4 to 7.
