Paula Bishop, 54, of Honesdale, PA (formerly of Archbald) passed away on March 7, 2015 after a lengthy and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Ann M. Cowley-Yanochik of Archbald.

Born in Peckville, PA, Paula was a graduate of Valley View High School Class of 1978. She worked in a variety of clerical jobs before her employment at Wayne Memorial Hospital as a Clerical Rep in the Business Office where she worked until she took an early retirement after 18 years due to her cancer.

In her spare time she enjoyed time spent with family, watching her children excel in sports, photography, hunting for antiques, and talking with the gals on her breast cancer site called MyBCTeam.com (an excellent site for women with breast cancer). But Paula’s biggest pride and joy was her two grandchildren. She enjoyed having as much time as she could with them, and cherished each and every moment with them.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kristin Liptock, Dr. Chris Peters, and Dr. William Dewar III for all their help and kindness shown during Paula’s illness. If it weren’t for them, she wouldn’t have been here with us this long. So thank you again for your guidance and support throughout.

Surviving are husband Donald, Honesdale; daughters, Casey Anne, Dickson City, PA and Cassandra Lee, Honesdale, PA; son, Corey Michael and his wife, Alexandria, Tafton, PA; grandson, Eli Thomas and granddaughter, Lena Harper. Sisters, Rosanne Stracham and husband Richard, Montdale, PA; and Karen Ligus, Richmondale, PA; and a brother, John Yanochik, Jr. and wife Paula, Mayfield, PA; brother-in-law, Jeffrey Bishop and his wife, Catherine, Fishers, IN; and Thomas Bishop, Honesdale. Goddaughters, Robin Alexander, Montrose; Maggie Ligus, Richmondale, and Jessica Bishop, Fishers, IN. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

As per her request, cremation will be held. A memorial service will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday at 11 am. The family will receive friends on Friday, 9 to service time.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105; Susan G. Komen Foundation, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309 or the donor’s favorite charity.
