Paul A. Schwartz, 63, of Hawley, died on Saturday, December 19, 2015. Paul was at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Ramona A. Bea. The couple married on May 11, 1974.

Born on July 4, 1952 in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Floyd M. and Ada Firmstone Schwartz. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1970.

Paul was involved with his fathers business, The Corners Garage in Indian Orchard until 1983. He continued to work auto parts at many dealerships and businesses. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister at the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in White Mills and was a present member of Queen of Peace Church in Hawley. Paul was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus. An active member of the community, Paul was an EMT for the former Honesdale Volunteer Ambulance, and a past member of the White Mills Fire Company and Honesdale Hose Co. #1.

An outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and a member and past president of the Riverdale Rod and Gun Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, John Schwartz and fiancée Kristen Sweeney, Thomas Schwartz and wife Mary Schwartz, Stephen Schwartz and girlfriend Candice Cormier; grandchildren Alexandra Squatrito, Justin Schwartz, Sean Sweeney, John Squatrito, Ryan Sweeney, Jacob Schwartz and Audrey Schwartz; his mother-in-law Audry Bea; brother-in-law Jeffrey Bea; sister-in-law Cindy Bea; a nephew Chad Bea and wife Stephanie; and a niece Kristen Bea.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law Clifford Bea and nephew Cory Bea.

As per his request, cremation will be held. His family will receive friends at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd, 4 to 7.

His family wishes to thank Wayne Memorial Hospital Hospice for the warm care that they provided. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
