Patricia Shanley

Patricia Shanley, 85, of Honesdale, died on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

Born on March 25, 1941 in Jessup, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frank and Rosemary (Moran) Shanley.

Patricia was a graduate of Our Lady of Good Council High School and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing both in Newark, New Jersey. Shortly after graduating from nursing school, she served in the United States Navy stationed at the US Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

After relocating her family back to Pennsylvania, Pat worked as a registered nurse in several different settings, including the operating room at Wayne Memorial Hospital and SCI Waymart. Upon retirement from her nursing career, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Caldwell Banker Korpics and Sader in Honesdale.

Pat was known for her loyalty, infectious laugh, and playful sense of humor. She loved to travel, spend time at the beach, shop, and search for treasures at flea markets and auctions.

She devoted her life to her children, raising them with endless love, patience, and support. She will always be a bright light in their hearts. She is survived by her two children: Michael Hosking and his life companion, Tricia Haile, and her daughter Heather Kretschmer and husband, Bob Kretschmer. She was the proud grandma to two grandchildren: Bobby and Megan Kretschmer. She is also survived by two brothers: Frank Shanley and Joseph Shanley, along with their wives, several neices, nephews, and cousins.

A private service will be held at the convenience of her family, arrangements by
Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main Street, Honesdale.

Her children wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bethany Village, several hospice agencies involved in her care, and all who simply took the time to offer her kind words, companionship, or chocolate ice cream during her final time here on earth.
