Padraic J. Lannon, Sergeant First Class, US Army, Retired.

Padraic J. Lannon passed on March 20, 2021 in Baltimore, Maryland after a long illness. He was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1949, the son of Mary Lannon RN (Hurst) and Dr. Paul C. Lannon, MD and raised in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. He attended elementary school and Honesdale Catholic High School, graduating in 1967. During his high school studies, Padraic won a Time Magazine award for knowledge in national and foreign affairs. After high school, he attended Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He majored in English literature.

After college, Padraic worked in the Washington D.C. area and traveled overseas. He worked in the Federal Republic of Germany in Bavaria for the U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service for several years. Upon returning to the states, he attended the Potomac School of Law, earning his law degree. In 1984, Padraic enlisted in the US Army where he served for over 20 years. He specialized in supply and logistics during assignments throughout the United States and overseas in Korea, Germany, Panama, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere.  With regular promotions, he attained the senior noncommissioned officer rank of Sergeant First Class.

After retirement, he lived in the Baltimore area where he enjoyed reading good novels, playing golf, visiting family, friends and spending time at the family homestead in Honesdale. He maintained connections with the Army at Fort Meade, Maryland and the Army base at Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania.

Padraic enjoyed sports, especially football and golf. He entertained family and friends telling stories of his travels and the tales of army life, frequently very funny. He maintained close relationships with the family and regularly attended family events and celebrations. He will be missed.

Padraic is survived by his sister Mary Eileen RN and husband John V. Gallagher (both Lt. Colonels, USAF Retired) of Turnersville, New Jersey, brother Sean of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania and nieces and nephews Paul Lannon (Paula), Martin Lannon (Trish), Patricia Ryan RN (Sean), Jorden Lannon,  Sean Gallagher (Erin Boyle), Kathleen Williams RN (Keith), GiGi Kilroe and eleven grand nieces/nephews.
