Lindgren (Wolff) Funeral Home Hessling Funeral Home Share your Memorial with Family & Friends With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Muriel Florence Lindgren (Wolff) who left us peacefully on April 11, 2025 at Bethany Village Assisted Living in Bethany, PA. Muriel was 101 years old at her passing and leaves behind a legacy of priceless memories that will forever be cherished. Born on March 31, 1924 to Helen and Robert Wolff. Muriel was their only child. She was raised in Maplewood, N.J. Muriel married Robert M. Lindgren on January 27, 1945 in Maplewood, NJ They had 66 years of married life together, living in Livingston, NJ and Tyler Hill, PA. She worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Newark, NJ and later as a bookkeeper and then as an assistant manager of a retail store. She enjoyed summers at the Jersey Shore, Swartzwood Lake, and her travels to Bermuda, Bahamas, Canada, Hawaii and Ireland.Check your settings when you are happy with your print preview press the print icon below.

Muriel loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting and made many beautiful afghans and clothing for her family. She also loved gardening, cooking and taking care of her violets, orchids and pets and even raising canaries with her husband. A patient person, Muriel was determined to teach her two left handed daughters how to crochet and knit, while she was right handed. She loved helping out with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Muriel was a such a caring woman that she took care of her mother, her mother-in-law and her uncle in their later years. She was proud to join her husband, a WWII Veteran, on the Tour of Honor to Washington DC.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert M. Lindgren and her son-in-law, Frank J. Stoeckle. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her two daughters, Patricia Ann Stoeckle, Tyler Hill, PA and Kathleen Frances (William) Murphy, Galilee, PA, her four grandchildren, Lisa Ann Stoeckle of Honesdale, PA, Kevin (Diane) Stoeckle of Cotopaxi, CO, Douglas (Cynthia) Murphy of West Caldwell, NJ, Kyle (Korinne) Murphy of Stamford, CT and her five great-grandchildren, Chase, Jackson, Logan, Quinn, and Fiona.
Muriel never had a bad thing to say about anyone. The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff members of Bethany Village Assisted Living and Wayne Memorial Hospice Services for the love and compassion they extended to Muriel while she was in their care.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join with the family on April 25th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main Street, Honesdale, PA, 18431. Burial will be on May 10th at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee, PA. For those who would like to attend, please meet at the cemetery.
