Monica (Billard) Arnold, 96, of Hawley, died unexpectedly at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center where she was receiving rehabilitation following a sudden fall at her home. She was born on August 28, 1917 in White Mills and was the last surviving member of the John and Katherine Fey Billard family. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1935. A woman of great faith, she recited her Rosary every day. She was a member of BVM Queen of Peace in Hawley and a member and past president of it’s Altar and Rosary Society. She worked into her eighties. Surviving is her son Gerald Arnold and wife Linda of Hawley; grandchildren Gerald Arnold II of Hawley and Delani Sambuca and husband Tony of Honesdale; nieces and nephews, including a special niece Patti Billard. She was preceded in death by her brothers Leslie and Lambert Billard; a sister Gladys Hill and nephew Richard Billard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 9th at 10 am at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley. Private interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery at a later date.
