Mildred Warwick, 83, a lifelong resident of Honesdale, died Wednesday afternoon, August 12, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Warwick. They were married for 46 years.

Born October 16, 1931 in Cold Springs, Pa., she was the daughter of Mary and Metro Pykus.

Before retiring in 1998, she graduated from Hahnemann Hospital and became a Registered Nurse in 1953. She worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital for 18 years and then as the School Nurse at Honesdale High School for 27 years. While working at the HHS, she earned a B.S. Degree in Public School Nursing from Bloomsburg University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Scranton. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish, St. John’s Altar and Rosary Society, St. John’s Quilting Group, and the Honesdale Country Club. Millie was devoted to her family. “Grama Mil” received joy in life from her four grandchildren. She was a sweet heart of a little lady who cared for others throughout her entire life.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Decker and her husband, William, of Honesdale and their sons, Steven and Torey; and Beth Beck and her husband, Scott, of Allentown, and their son, Collin, & daughter, Michelle.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, August 18, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen’s Church, Honesdale. Interment in St. Mary Magdalen’s Cemetery.

Friends may visit the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, on Monday, August 17, from 5-7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wayne County Public Library, 1406 N. Main St., Honesdale 18431, or Dessin Animal Shelter, Honesdale.
