Michael Markis, 36 of Lakeville, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2021. Michael was born in New York, with his family moving to Pennsylvania shortly thereafter. He attended and graduated from Wallenpaupack Area High School.

Michael found a passion in bowling at a young age, which he successfully turned into a thriving career as an adult. Michael had a knowledge in all aspects of the sport that was unsurpassed, making him an unparalleled asset to those he coached, competed with and against, and to everyone who walked through the door of his pro shop, Strike It Rich.

While bowling was his career, he found real joy in hitting the golf course (even in the rain) and in true fashion, was always trying to better his swing, short game, or bunker shot. Michael also adored his niece and nephew, and was the first one to get the biggest bear hugs anytime the family got together.

Surviving are his mother, Julie Markis of Hawley; girlfriend Lindsey Bree of Lakeville; brother and sister-in-law Christopher and Kayla Markis, nephew and niece Caleb and Kendyll Markis of Honesdale, along with many close and dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 20th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. All attending are required to wear a mask. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
