Martha Marie “Marti” (Nicotera) Gumble, age 71, of Honesdale, PA, passed away on January 2, 2017.

Marti was born in Camden, NJ to the late George Nardello and Martha Marie Coccogna Nardello on September 9, 1945. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School and Gwynedd Mercy University in Philadelphia with a degree in nursing.

She loved her family, literature, animals and the arts. She also committed her life to the service of others. As a psychiatric nurse, she worked with veterans struggling with posttraumatic stress disorder, under served children and families, and those in Hospice care. In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, writing, and mentoring and tutoring young students.

Marti is survived by her loving husband, Stan Gumble; her children, Anthony Nicotera and wife Debbie and Michael Nicotera and wife Jackie, and their sons Michael and Anthony; her stepchildren Jennifer Gumble and fiancée Chuck Gough, and their children Nick, Chazz and Josh and Dan Gumble and his spouse, Stephanie Arocha and their son Henry; her brother, George Nardello; and her niece, Jennifer Nardello.

As per her request, cremation will be held.  A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, January 7th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11:45am. Friends may visit, 10 until service time.  A graveside service will be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
