Martha Alzina Briggs, 76, of Prompton, died on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born on December 20, 1945 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Alzina (Brown) Young.

Over the years, Martha worked as a waitress at several local restaurants. She retired from Scarfalloto’s Townhouse Diner. She enjoyed the friendships and relationships she developed with customers over the years.

Martha loved spending time with her grandchildren and the trips she took with her family to Myrtle Beach.

Surviving are her sons, Wayne Briggs and wife Melissa of Honesdale, Robert Highhouse and wife Donna and Howard Highhouse and wife Harriet all of Damascus; her sister, Alice Gill and husband Thomas of Wilkes-Barre; sister-in-law, Linda Young of Honesdale; grandchildren, Dyllon Fillebrown, Mason and Gavin Briggs, Bobby, Megan, Matthew, Dustin, Sean and Ryan Highhouse; great grandchild, Elena and several other great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Young.

A graveside service will be held in East Dyberry Cemetery at the convenience of her family. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
