Marlene H. Brown, 79, of Honesdale, died on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice “Moe” Brown on September 8, 2013. The couple married on November 26, 1955. Born on April 17, 1935 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Gregory Hedgelon. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1953 and later attended Wayne Commercial School. A housewife and loving mother, Marlene also worked as a legal secretary for David Boyd, Esq. and retired in 2004 from the Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale where she was the administrator for over 20 years. Marlene enjoyed crafts and was not afraid to try anything new whether it be crocheting or calligraphy. She enjoyed working on computers. She was well known to make her own cards and became quite good at superimposing friends and families pictures on different images and scenes. She was an active and faithful member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale. Surviving are her sons Michael M. and companion Melody of Equinunk, David G. and wife Linda of Honesdale, Jeffrey “Charlie” and wife Sheila of Cherry Ridge and Christopher and wife Alison of Bethany; daughters Pamela McDonald and husband James of Pleasant Mount and Jennifer Trujillo and husband Darren of Milford; her sisters Joyce McKean and husband Henry of Marco Island, FL and Johanne Rutledge and husband James of Galilee; a sister-in-law Shirley Derrick and husband Robert of Waymart; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 28th at 1:30 pm at Grace Episcopal Church, Honesdale with The Reverend Edward K. Erb, Rector, officiating. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, 12:30 to service time in church. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 827 Church St. Honesdale, PA 18431 or to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
