Marjorie Firmstone of White Mills died October 5 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack Firmstone. Born on July 21, 1931, daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Watson DeReamer, she graduated from Hawley High School. She began work at P.P.L. and later worked in the Commissioner’s office at the Wayne County Courthouse. After retiring, she spent winters in Florida with her husband and traveled to Texas to visit her sister and family. One of her favorite activities was shopping in Dallas with her sister Charlotte. Margie was very active in her community as a member and Ladies Aide of the White Mills Methodist Church. She was an organist there for many years. As a member of the Wayne Co.. Choralaires she sang in London and Paris as well as many concerts around the county. She lived on idyllic life in small town America and truly loved its beauty and the family around her. Whether cooking a family meal or attending a family cook-out, there was always a good time waiting. Margie loved playing cards with her sisters and their husbands. Weekly Rummy Cube games with her sister, Norma and participating in all her daughters events as youngsters. She was a competitive swimmer and loved swimming all her life. She loved going to ball games, ice-skating, sleigh-riding and long walks with her dogs. She will be missed by all. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Nancy Firmstone and Joan (Larry) Alexander. Sister Norma Rickert and brother-in-law Donald James. Many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte and brother-in-law, Bernard Rickert and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 10th at 11am at the White Mills United Methodist Church, by Pastor Marge Allgeier. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
