Mario T. Martinez

Mario Tomas Martinez, 75, of Lakeville, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit in Dunmore. He is survived by his wife, Linda Martinez.

Born on December 29, 1939 in Havana, Cuba, he was the son of the late Ricardo and Georgina Rabeiro Martinez.

An entrepreneur, Mario was involved with several businesses, including several Shell Gas Stations in New Jersey, rental properties and was the former owner of Edgewater Suites in Tafton. Mario was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed watching baseball and football. He also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and watching John Wayne movies.

Mario will be remembered as a strong man who cared deeply about his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Shannon Martinez and wife Kristie of Bayonne, NJ and Mario Martinez and companion Brittany of Lakeville; his daughters Linda Martinez-Rosario and wife Barbara of Mount Olive, NJ, Becky Loffredo and husband William of Boonton, NJ, Talia Martinez and husband David Rodriguez of Newark, NJ and Jessica Martinez and companion Michael Ramos of Allentown, PA; a brother Ricardo Martinez and wife Carmen of Paramus, NJ; a sister-in-law Ana Martinez of Linden, NJ; grandchildren Nicholas Gomez, Jocelyn Domenech, Daniel Rodriguez, Skyler Martinez, Brandon Rodriguez, Madison Loffredo; and a granddaughter due in September.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Tondra Martinez and his brother Rafael Martinez.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 30th at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley at 10 am. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday from 4 to 9. As per his request, cremation will follow.
