Marie G. VanOrden, 91, of Honesdale, died on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Forest City Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. VanOrden on January 17, 1980.

Born on January 16, 1926 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late John and Lura Spangenberg Gregor.

For 30 years, Marie was employed at Katz Underwear Factory before retiring.

She attended the Tabernacle Bible Church in Honesdale.

A great cook, Marie also enjoyed canning, gardening and traveling with her friends.

Surviving is her daughter Judy Branning and husband Roger of Beach Lake; her sons James R. VanOrden of Honesdale and Steve L. VanOrden and wife Barbara of Milanville; grandchildren Brian Wasman, James Wesley VanOrden, Emily VanOrden, Dean VanOrden, Joseph VanOrden and Thomas VanOrden; great grandchildren Anne Marie Wasman and Jacob Wasman; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Lynette Nearing and son-in-law Gerald “Skip” Wasman.

As per her request, cremation will be held and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
