Maria A. Stachowiak (Wosnik)

Maria Anna Stachowiak

August 9, 1930 – November 6, 2024

Maria was born and grew up in Zabrze, Poland, she married the love of her life Tadeusz Stachowiak in 1951, they remained married for 62 years until Ted’s passing in 2013.

Upon graduation from high school in Poland, she worked as a kindergarten teacher and started to raise a family.

Dad was transferred to Ghana in Africa and insisted that his family join him. Mom managed the logistics of the move from Zabrze, to Ghana, bringing just a few suitcases to escape from behind the Iron Curtain in 1960.

After many adventures in Africa over 9 years, she and Ted moved the family onto the next great adventure in New Jersey in 1969. In the United States, she worked in the accounts payable department at European American Bank until she retired.

She was a kind person who treasured her family and friends. Her passions included throwing and hosting parties, and cooking for family and friends. She loved her parish and participated in all the activities it provided. Above all, she loved taking care of her family.

Maria was kind, generous, and outgoing, with an infectious sense of humor who loved playing games, including bridge w/her partner Ted, as well as playing games with her children. She was the foundation of our family.

She is survived by her 3 children: Jolanta, Christopher, and Tom, daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren: Mike and Noreen, Dave and Mary Kate, Sean and Heather as well as her great-grandchildren: Saoirse, Fox, Conor, and Leo. Unfortunately, she did not meet her latest great-grandchild who is due at the end of this month.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. James R. C. Church 361 Great Bend Turnpike, Pleasant Mount, PA 18453
