Margaret Ann Rickard, 70, of Honesdale, died on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore. She is survived by her companion of 38 years, Michael Meszler.

Born on January 30, 1954 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Walter K. and Jane (Kiegler) Smith. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School and began working at the former Martin’s Pharmacy in Honesdale. She later managed the family business, the former White Mills Hotel. She also served as a former Honesdale Borough Council member.

Margie enjoyed listening to music, especially The Beatles and John Lennon. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and was a talented seamstress making many household items. She had a passion for all sports and to know her, you knew that Joe Montana and the 49ers was her team. She had a particular love of baseball, which resinates back to her father Walter’s passion and athletic abilities and just loved seeing/hearing about her grandchildren play the game. She was known for her kindness to others, opening her home to a certain group of Jessica’s friends who were also known as her “children”. She always put others needs above her own. She had a special love for Daiseys as she enjoyed things simple but beautiful. Her main love was “her boys” , her grandchildren.

In addition to Michael, she is survived by her daughter, Jessica Doran and husband, Brian of Blue Bell, PA; her brother, Kevin Smith of AZ; her sisters, Karen Smith and Christine Smith both of Tulsa, OK; her grandchildren, Tyler and Brady Doran; her nieces and nephews, Jared Smith, Tracey Braunschweig, Amanda, Michael and Jason Kuhns.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 27th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday, 4 to 7.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams St. Dunmore, PA 18510.
