Ruth Lewis (Kelly) Burial Date May 18, 2018 Place of Service Saint John the Evangelist Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Mary Ruth (Kelly) Lewis, 98, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Lewis on May 7, 1959. Born on November 2, 1919 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late James and Lyda Hagerman Kelly. She was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Hoensdale and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir which was under the direction of Bessie Caufield Conaughton. Ruth was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1936 and until her retirement was an office employee of Katz Underwear Company for forty seven years. She is survived by her sister-in-law Clara Morrison Kelly of Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her brother John R. Kelly on May 3, 2018 and an infant sister Anna Mary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale on Friday, May 18th at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. As per her request, there will be no viewing. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
