Lydora (Dorie) Marie Drake, 92, of Hawley, PA passed away on Mar. 20, 2017.
Born Jan. 28, 1925 in White Mills, PA, she was the daughter of the late
Charles LaTournous and Eugenia Rickert LaTournous.

Preceding her in death were her 4 brothers; Walter, Carl, Raymond and
Frances LaTournous.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph J. Drake; two daughters
Barbara Bertsch of Bethlehem, and Linda Barney and husband Don of
Honesdale; and son John Drake and wife, Ann Marie of Tafton; 5
grandchildren Brian Bertsch, Sara Jones, Laura Rotella, Madeline and Maria
Drake; 4 great grandchildren Katlyn and Nicholas Bertsch and Max and Aubree
Jones, and 1 great great grandchild Makenzie.

After graduating from Hawley High School, Lydora worked as the personal secretary to the Colonel of Army Physician Induction in Newark, NJ during WWII. Upon return to White Mills she worked at their family owned business, La Tournous Cut Glass. After she and Joe married in 1950 they moved to Hawley near her husband’s work. Lydora dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a devoted wife, compassionate mom and loving grandmother. ‘Dorie’and Joe were frequent visitors at local nursing homes offering comfort and conversation. Lydora was a devout member of BVM Queen of Peace Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Mar. 23 at Queen of Peace
Church, Hawley at 10 am.

Donations may be made in her honor to American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
