Louis “Louie” Alves DeLima, 76, husband of the late Dolores DeLima, passed away in his sleep, at his home in Galilee, PA on Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

Louie was born on March 11, 1939 in Haskell, NJ, to Luiz and Mary (Marquez) DeLima. He is survived by his sister, Doreen Mays Lewis of Crossville, TN, his eight children: Christopher DeLima of Branchville, NJ, Daniel DeLima of Branchville, NJ, Carol Donahue of Pottstown, PA, Louis DeLima of Pueblo West, CO, Theresa Miley of Branchville, NJ, Mary DeLima of Nazareth, PA, David DeLima of Branchville, NJ, and Anne Marie DeLima of Sparta, NJ, and his 22 grandchildren.

Louie grew up in Haskell, NJ and attended Butler High School, Class of 1957. Upon graduating, he served in the Army Reserves, where he received the highest score, “Distinguished Recognition” for Marksmanship. While serving in the Army Reserves, he met and befriended Dick Campbell who introduced him to his future wife, Dolores. It was love at first sight. Louie married her in 1963 and they remained married for 47 years. Together, they lived in Stockholm, NJ where they raised their eight children.

In the early 70’s he began a partnership that with hard work and perseverance gained him full ownership of Tri-County Construction & Roofing Co., which he maintained for 25 years. He moved with his family to Branchville, NJ where he lived near other close family and friends. In 1999, he retired and moved with his wife to Galilee, PA in a home he built, himself.

Louie was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with friends, family and his hunting buddies. Being retired never kept him from fixing anything or building something new. He was a great provider and head-strong man who always pulled through. Louie will definitely be missed. His legacy will live on in the hearts of the DeLima’s and all who were blessed to have had him in their life.

A mass of Catholic Rite will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, February 23 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 416 Church Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA.
