Lawrence David Kuhn, 77, of Honesdale, died on Monday, January 11, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Janet Thomas. The couple married on October 18, 1969.

Born on January 22, 1943 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Karl and Miriam (Whitleigh) Kuhn. He was a graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School, class of 1960. The following year he joined the US Navy serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Shasta, AE-6.

Larry began his career with his brother owning Kuhn Brothers Excavating. He later owned and operated L & J Steel Supply. Before retiring, he was a truck and bus driver.

He was a lifelong member of the Alerts Hook and Ladder Fire Co. #2 and the American Legion Post 254 in Honesdale. He was strong in his faith and the love of God having been a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, attending St. Mary Magdalen and St. Bernard’s.

Larry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, working in his vegetable garden and rides throughout Wayne County. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and camping. He especially enjoyed trips to Kansas. He enjoyed tinkering, welding, and just trying to fix anything that was broken. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed telling stories of the past.

Surviving are his sons, Peter Kuhn and wife Holly of Tamaqua, PA, David Kuhn and fiancée Marie DiPasquale of Ridley Park, PA and Matthew Kuhn of Honesdale; his daughters Karen Burns and husband Ian of Honesdale and Carol Roy and husband Brandon of Stockton, KS; his brother Paul Kuhn and wife Johnna of Waymart; his sisters Marie Palmer and husband Rusty and Ann Tallman and husband Jerry all of Honesdale; grandchildren Jacob Kuhn and Kassidy Kuhn; step-grandchildren Daniel Hertzig, Alexis and Dante DiPasquale and Michaela Ronk; great grandson Talladega Ronk; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Kuhn.

Following cremation a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale on Saturday, January 23rd at 10 am. Masks are required in church. Interment with military honors will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
