Laurie Ann Krempasky Hawkins, 50, of Farmersville, TX and formerly of Honesdale, died on Monday, March 31, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 12, 1963 in Carbondale, PA she was the daughter of Florence Knehr Krempasky. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1981, and later graduated from Allied Medical School with honors. Laurie enjoyed being a waitress, was a receptionist at Cherry Ridge Motors for her brother Dan Krempasky and later became an entrepreneur in Texas. Laurie was an arm wrestling champion and had a passion for demolition derbies which she was an award winner for two consecutive years. Laurie was an inspiration to many women who are battling breast cancer. She was a loving and caring friend to many people and her immediate family was her world. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and participated in several Breast Cancer Awareness Events. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brothers Andrew Krempasky and wife Michele, Richard Krempasky and wife Trish, Ronald Krempasky and wife Theresa; her sister Cynthia Povilitus Foley and her husband Tim. Several nieces and nephews, a great niece and great nephews. Her loving companion Larry Duncan and best friend and caregiver Andika Duncan. She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Krempasky and her maternal grandparents Walter and Katherine Knehr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 7th at 10am at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
