Obituaries » Kyle E. Derrick Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Kyle Derrick, 37, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Kyle fought a long, hard, brave battle. At his young age, he has experienced more than most have in a lifetime. Kyle had a big heart and a special place in it for all animals. He was surrounded by some of the most wonderful friends and family in his last days here. His journey was a lesson for all of us. Kyle is on his way to heaven, something he took great comfort in knowing. Kyle was born on June 15th to Joan and Edward Derrick in Honesdale, PA. After Kyle graduated from Honesdale High School, he went on to work with his father at New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway Corporation. Kyle took immense pride in working with his father until he had his unfortunate accident. Kyle is survived by his parents, Edward and Joan Derrick, Honesdale. Also many uncles, aunts, and cousins including Tammy and Karl Wasman, daughters Stacey Diehl, of Honesdale, PA and Brianne and Dave Buckland, of Denver, North Carolina. Michael and Margaret Derrick, their son, Michael Jr., Willingboro, NJ; Judy Derrick, Honesdale, PA; Harold and Chris Derrick, of Honesdale, PA, their sons, Justin and Monica, Joshua and Jessica, Christopher Mizwinski, and daughters, the late Mia Mizwinski, Kari and Grant Simons, Stacy and Joey VanOrden; Blanche Sampson, and her son, Easton and Misty, and daughter, Trinity Derrick-Schmidt. Anna Wilmont, and son Mark and Danielle. We are so grateful for the EXCEPTIONAL care Kyle received at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A special thank you to Mr. James Pettinato, CEO of Wayne Memorial Hospital. Mr. Pettinato, what you have done for Kyle and his parents will never be forgotten. Thank you to Dr. Diora and his Wound Care team who met Kyles’ needs with much care and compassion. A sincere thank you to the entire hospice team. Charlene, you are amazing! Thank you for taking Kyle under your wing and caring for him as you would your own family. Also, Pastor Norm, who has followed Kyle for many years at Wayne Memorial. His spiritual guidance was so appreciated by Kyle and his parents. Any donations can be made in Kyle’s memory to Dessin Animal Shelter, Honesdale, PA, where Kyle’s favorite dog, Buddy, came from. We would like to thank Hessling Murray Funeral Home who will take care of the arrangements.
