Kenneth Nicholas Miszler, 93, of Hawley, died on December 24, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Mary E. Kovatis. The couple married on May 23, 1945. Born on November 9, 1921 on the family farm on Swamp Brook Rd. in Berlin Township, he was the son of the late Edward Victor and Katherine Ann Nonnenmacher Miszler. Kenneth attended and graduated from Honesdale Catholic High School. Following high school he worked at Katz Underwear Factory and later Aldenville Furniture Factory. Before retiring, he worked on family dairy farm in Berlin Township. He was a past president of the Eastern Milk Association. Ken owned Rock Branch Kennel and was president of the Briar Hill Beagle Club. He was also Master of Hounds in the UKC Coon Association and a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed square dancing and was a caller. His current pastimes were reading and word puzzles. He liked to garden, hunt and especially loved his yellow lab retriever, Spike. He is survived by his sons, Nicholas G. Miszler and fiancée, Mandy of Hawley; Martin A. Miszler and wife, Susan of Hawley; Kenneth J. Miszler and wife, Marlene of Milanville; Edward V. Miszler and wife, Susan of Hawley; Jeffrey B. Miszler and wife, Donna of Hawley and daughters, Ruth A. Krell and husband, Michael of Hawley and Catherine M. Shelton and husband, William of Honesdale and by his half sister, Patricia Gluntz of North Carolina; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by twin infant sons, Richard and Victor and his sister, Dorothy Kmetz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Honesdale, PA. Friends may visit on Monday from 4 – 7 at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc. 428 Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Donations can be made to the American Cancer and American Heart Association.
