Joseph William Manley, Jr., 66, of Beach Lake, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former R. Cheryl Turonis. The couple married on February 2, 1974. Born on December 7, 1948 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph William, Sr. and Frances Picarello Manley. He was a graduate of Kearny High School, class of 1966. He later served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Alaska. Joe retired in 2008 from the State of Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Bureau where he was a manager. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Narrowsburg, NY. For over 20 years, Joe was involved with the Honesdale Little League Association where he served as vice president, manager and coach. He loved playing golf, gardening, and riding his tractor. Most of all, Joe loved spending time with his family. He was a proud Poppy and over the moon in love with his grandchildren. Also surviving are his sons, Joseph William Manley III and wife Rebecca of Bangor, PA and Justin Patrick Manley of Honesdale; his daughter Jessica Rose Henderson and husband Norman of Bethany; his brother John James Manley and wife Susan of N. Arlington, NJ; sisters Joanne Stacey McNamara and husband David, Janet McLaren and husband Richard and Judy Taylor and husband Andrew all of Kearny, NJ; grandchildren Joseph William IV and Abigail Jean; sister-in-law Lydia Newton and husband David; brothers-in-law Eugene Turonis and wife Rene and Robert Haag; beloved nieces and nephews that will forever love their Uncle Joe. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Lydia and William Turonis; sister-in-law JoAnn Haag; his brother-in-law William Turonis and wife Roxanna. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 17th at St. Francis Xavier Church, Narrowsburg, NY at 10:30 am. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday from 4 to 8. Interment will be in the spring in Indian Orchard Cemetery.
