JoEllen Lipperini, 72, of Olyphant and formerly of Honesdale, died on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lipperini on June 5, 2003.

Born on January 26, 1949 in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Norma (Handis) Byer. She received a degree in elementary education from Adelphi University and a masters degree from East Stroudsburg University.

She and Albert moved to Rileyville and she began teaching in the Wayne Highlands School District. After raising her daughters, she continued teaching at Wallenpaupack before retiring.

JoEllen was an avid reader and enjoyed reading to her children when they were young and then to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach, and was always up for an adventure.

Surviving are her daughters, Shira Ramirez and husband Christopher of Honesdale and Brooke Lipperini and fiancée Robert McLaughlin of Olyphant; her sister Diana Byer of New York, NY; her brother Ted Byer and wife Marcy of NJ; her grandchildren Daniel Lipperini, James and Isabella Ramirez and Ethan Arnone.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center for their kindness and compassion during JoEllen’s stay there.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 24th at KC Peppers, 182 Ski Run Rd. Honesdale, PA at noon. The family will receive friends on Friday, 11 until the time of service. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Wayne County Public Library, 1406 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
