Jerome Francis Johannes, Jr., 76 of Cherry Ridge, died on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marlene A. Gumble on May 22, 2009. The couple married on February 11, 1956. Born on November 7, 1937 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Jerome F. and Ellen Miller Johannes. Jerry was a contractor by trade and bus contractor and driver. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Assembly # 927 for 34 years and a 3rd Degree member of Council #363. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, making wine and canning with his wife. Surviving are his sons Jerome III and wife Lynn and Patrick and wife Vicki all of Honesdale; his daughters Andrea Kizer and husband Joe of Salisbury, NC, Lisa Johannes Finan and Debra Bodie and husband Randon all of Honesdale; a brother James Johannes of Waymart; sisters Christine Cavage of Steene, Ruth Robinson of East Stroudsburg, and Joan Kennedy of Honesdale; grandchildren Korwyn, Jamie and Craig Bodie, Krista and Katie Kizer, Bree Finan, Colin, Taylor, Mychaela, Nicholas, Kiersten Johannes; great grandchildren, Tristyn Bodie, Breydon and Addison Sislo, Brianna and Camden Bodie. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene, Joseph and William Johannes; sisters Kathleen Ruddy, Marie Spangenberg, Ellen Jaggars and Dorothy Tallman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 7th at 10 am in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale. Interment will be in Darling Cemetery.
