Jean Cary

Jean R. Cary, 80, of Beach Lake, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles B. Cary. Born on May 6, 1934 in Concord, NY, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evalyn Treat Russell. She was a graduate of Geneseo College in New York with a degree in Library Science. Jean enjoyed weaving and was a member of the Woodlands Weavers Guild. She was also a member of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary. She enjoyed reading, cooking and the outdoors. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Drusilla “Dru” Cary and Allan White of Eldred, PA and Cynthia Cary of Williamsburg, MA; her brother Thomas Russell of Brooklyn, NY; a brother-in-law Eugene Cary and wife Jan of Hummlestown, PA; nephews and nieces Philip, Brian, Bruce and Meghan Cary, Allison Jenkins and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death her daughter Pamela Cary Alber The family will receive friends at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Saturday from 10am to noon.
