Janet Kathryn Ridd, 91, of Honesdale, died on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Ridd on April 8, 1993. Born on July 16, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Pearl Fetteroff Morgan. Before retiring, Janet was the secretary and treasurer for Oregon Township for many years. She also helped her husband on the family farm. Janet was a member of the First Baptist Church of Honesdale where she was a past member of the choir. She had a great voice and sang in several other churches in the community. She was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange and the Wayne County Council of Republican Women. Along with singing, Janet enjoyed listening to opera and classical music. A creative person, she also was a painter and quilter. A loving mother and grandmother, she loved being with her family. Surviving is her son William Ridd and wife Susan of Honesdale; her daughters Tammy Hollister of Honesdale and Joanne Tegeler and husband William of Southbury, CT; her grandchildren John Hollister, William Ridd Jr., Kathy (Hollister) Pahls, Kelly (Tegeler) Barry and Michael Tegeler; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Lois Cottell, her grandson Brian Ridd and son-in-law Benton Hollister. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13th at the First Baptist Church of Honesdale at 1 pm. Interment will follow in East Dyberry Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday from 11:30 to 12:30. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Honesdale, 206 12th St. Honesdale, PA 18431 or the donors favorite charity.
