James P “Kuhnie” Kuhn, 76 of Honesdale, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Born on September 12, 1941 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Karl Kuhn and Miriam Whitleigh Kuhn.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale, attending St. Mary Magdalen Church. He was a graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School, class of 1959. After graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he worked and lived in New Jersey, where he made several lifelong friends. He loved the outdoors, horses, hunting and fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a skilled carpenter, loved tinkering, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He worked at S.J. Bailey and Sons and most recently the Salvation Army.
He was a lifetime member of Alert Hook and Ladder #2 in Honesdale.
He is survived by his daughters Arlene Price and husband Matthew of Mehoopany; Amanda Kuhn of Honesdale; his granddaughter Aubrey Price; his siblings Larry Kuhn and wife Janet, Marie Palmer and husband Rusty, Ann Tallman and husband Jerry and Paul Kuhn and wife Johnna; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also life long friends Bill Castek and David Brooking.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 16th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10am. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
