James Edward Bader, 87, formerly of White Mills and a resident at
Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, died on Monday, September 3, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora E. Beardsley Bader on June
3, 2007.

Born on October 12, 1930 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late
Edward F. and Caroline F. Benney Bader. James was a graduate of
Honesdale High School, class of 1949. He retired from the Wayne
Independent where he worked for 44 years.

He was a former member and past president of the Honesdale Fraternal
Order of Eagles and was also former member and past president of the
Scranton Fraternal Order of Eagles. James was a member and past
president of the Wayne County Historical Society. He was also a life
member and long time secretary of Texas #4 Fire Company. James was a
history buff of Honesdale and Wayne County. He enjoyed reading and
the writing of the 50 year history of Texas #4 Fire Company and the
100 hundred year history of Honesdale Firemen’s Relief. He also
served as auditor of Palmyra Township, Wayne County.

He is survived by his children Ross Edward Bader and Tonee Lyn Bader;
step-daughter Penny-Jo Watson; several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, and his sister-in-law, Regina Beardsley.

He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Bader and
step-daughter Nora Lea Arnold.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 7th at Hessling
Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 5pm. The family will
receive friends on Friday from 3pm until the time of service. Private
interment will be in Green Gates Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Texas #4
Fire Company, 440 Grove Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 or the Wayne
County Historical Society, PO Box 446, Honesdale, PA 18431.
