Bates Share your Memorial with Family & Friends James Donald Bates, 65, of Prompton, died on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton with his daughter by his side. Born on November 17, 1957 in Honesdale, he is the son of Edna (Comino) Bates and the late Donald Bates. After graduating from high school, Jimmy began working in excavating and did so throughout his career. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1858 in Honesdale and a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Jimmy enjoyed playing cards at Jake’s with his friends and watching Nascar. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always willing to help someone in need. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Ann Marie Bates of Honesdale; his brother Leonard Bates and wife Patricia of Honesdale; his nephews, Jay and Brian Bates. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
