Ira Paul Dubson, 68, of Damascus, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his son’s home in Tyler Hill. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Bonny Diehl. The couple married on September 19, 1986.

Born on July 18, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Sidney and Edna (Rappaport) Dubson. Ira served for several years in the Merchant Marines before settling in Damascus. He earned several certifications to become a locksmith, welder and inspector of steel structures. He taught briefly at Delaware Valley Job Corps in Callicoon, NY before starting his own welding business, Detention Equipment Specialists. He also started his own business, Family Safety Store, selling firearms and non lethal weapons.

Ira enjoyed target shooting and received several awards for archery and rifle. He also looked forward to taking rides on his motorcycle.

In addition to his wife, Ira is survived by his son Matthew T. Salzameda and wife Beth (Meyer) of Tyler Hill; his sister, Nadine Dubson of New York, NY; brothers-in-law, W. Don Diehl and wife Eileen and Louie Diehl and wife Jule; sister-in-law, Inez Rickard and husband Bert; his grandchildren, who were his world, Noah and Leah Salzameda. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank his caregiver, Anne Germaine and all the staff of Wayne Memorial Hospice, especially, Karen, Ginny, Sam, Jessica and Margaret.

A private graveside service will be held in Conklin Hill Cemetery at the convenience of his family. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wayne Memorial Hospice, 601 Park St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
