Iluminada “Lummy” Vogt , 78, of Hawley, Pa. passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Wayne Memorial Hospital on March 18, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 yrs Walter A. Vogt on February 24, 2014.

She was born on November 29, 1938 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Carmen Espinosa Colon and the late Adolfo Colon.  She moved to Brooklyn, NY when she was 13 years old with her mom and 2 sisters after the passing of her father.  After graduating high school she became a secretary and an assistant working for different companies and banks in NYC.  In 1986, she moved to Hawley, PA with her husband and daughter.

Lummy was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking and loved making her family and friends favorite dishes.  You never walked away from her table hungry.

She is survived by her daughter Nicole Malti and son in law John of Hawley, PA; her sister Adele Reyes and brother in law Bernie of Shohola, PA.  She was grandma to Kayla Bates, Nicholas Bates and Jenna Malti of Hawley. Stepmother to Karen Vogt, Erica Vogt, Kenny Vogt, and Matthew Vogt.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Perez and her sister Margarita Olmedo. Hasta que nos encotremos de Nuevo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 24th at Queen of Peace Church in Hawley at 10 am.  Interment will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Honesdale.  Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 4 to 7.
