Herbert C. Pabst, 84, of Damascus, died on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Rosemarie Birner. Born on August 13, 1929 in Woodbridge, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles F. and Ruth E. Geibel Pabst. He was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War in Munich, Germany, where he met his future wife. For 39 years, Herbert was a supervisor at Public Service Gas and Electric in Jersey City, NJ. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Damascus Township. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Union City, NJ. Herbert had a great sense of humor and was known to always have a funny joke. Also surviving are his sons Reiner M. Pabst of Boonton Twp., NJ and Herbert E. Pabst of Caldwell, NJ and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Pabst. As per his request, cremation will be held and interment will be held at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Damascus Volunteer Ambulance, PO Box 63, Damascus, PA 18415.
