Helge Herbert Bergman, 81, of Pleasant Mount, died on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Anita Anderson. The couple married on July 21, 1956.

Born on June 28, 1934 in Narpes, Finland, he was the son of the late Uno and Svea Groop Bergman.

A carpenter and dairy farmer, Helge worked for several construction companies in the area before retiring. He and his wife ran the dairy farm on their property in Pleasant Mount.

A talented carpenter, he was proud to have helped build the homes of his daughter and grandson.

Helge enjoyed cars. Whether it be going to an antique car show or watching Nascar races, he had a passion for automobiles.

He was a member of the Northern Wayne Christian Fellowship.

Also surviving is his daughter Monica Whitt and husband Terry of Hancock, NY; grandsons David Whitt and wife Melissa, Steven Whitt and wife Rebecca and Andrew Whitt and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren Asher, Keira, A.J., Davin, Camden, Calen, Annali, and Samuel.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Marina Bernice Bergman and his brother Runar Bergman.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 24th at 1 pm at Lake Como Cemetery. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA.
