Helen Ann (Pappas) Ratay, 90, of Lake Ariel, died on Sunday, July 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ratay on December 1, 2002. The couple married on June 4, 1949.

Born on May 16, 1926 in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Vincent “Jim” and Helen Patyk Pappas. A housewife and loving mother, Helen was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church in Ledgedale.

Surviving are her sons Jeff Ratay and wife Dana of Lake Ariel and Jim Ratay and wife Pam of Spokane, WA; her daughters Carol Hemphill and husband Kim of Spokane, WA and Ann Marie Powell and husband Bobby of Sheatown, PA; brothers Tony Pappas and wife Theresa of Lake Ariel and Ronald Pappas of Wilkes Barre; her twin sister Angie Muccino of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters Leona Malinoski of Lake Ariel, Romaine Bogel of Moscow, Juel Shutkufski of Lakeville and Ann Marie Pappas of Lakeville. Her grandchildren Cara Belles and husband Kyle, Joshua Ratay, Craig Hemphill and Emily Ratay; great grandchildren Brayden, Kinsley and Alayna Belles; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Vincent Pappas.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 7th at St. Mary’s Church, Ledgedale at 10 am. The family will receive friends in church, 9:30 to service time. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
