Grace Margaret Augello, 93, of Honesdale, died on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Augello on January 22, 1985.

Born on July 10, 1928 at the family home in Honesdale, she was the last surviving member of the George and Rebecca (Dean) Guinther family. Grace was a graduate of Honesdale High School, Class of 1946 where she was captain of the basketball team. She was also proud to be the high scorer one year. After high school, she continued to participate in sports playing in the ladies softball league for Katz’s.

She worked at Wayne Publishers in Honesdale before retiring from Katz Underwear Factory. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale.

An avid sports fan, Grace enjoyed cheering for the New York Mets, New York Jets and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She also enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City. Most of all, Grace loved spoiling her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Michael Augello and Marie Latrourette and husband Gerald all of Honesdale; grandsons, Jason and Andrew Latourette; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Austin, Robert, Edward, Dean and James Guinther; sisters, Florence Dulay, Catherine Dulay and Sister M. Jacinta “Betty” Guinther.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 4th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10am Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Honesdale. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday, 4 to 7.
