George E. Martin “Mr. George” George E. Martin, 78, of Honesdale, PA passed away on December 20, 2014. He was born in Union City, NJ and raised in Brooklyn NY. He was a Staff Sargent in the Marines from 1953 – 1959, but he was always a Marine. He retired as a truck driver from Frito-Lay in Kirkwood, NY in 1991 after 20 years of safe driving. He then drove bus for Head Start in Susquehanna and Wayne County for 14 years. He drove limo for Cove Haven and then retired to woodworking and flea markets. He loved building birdhouses, going to the flea markets and getting a good deal. He was a loving husband, father and an amazing grandfather. He touched many lives with that sparkle in his smile, his endless stories and humor. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Luise Martin, his sisters Betty and Rosemary, and his brother Tommy. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marion (Breidenstein), sisters Barbara (Dave) Eggan, Margie McDonnell, brother John (Janie) Martin, daughters, Carol (John) Nebzydoski of Pleasant Mount, PA, Linda Martin of Nyack, NY, Diane (Jeff) Carson of Springville, PA, Molly (Shannon) Rhoads of Skaneateles, NY, Vicki (Mark) Mullen of New Milford, PA, a son George (Melissa) Martin of New Milford, PA and a bonus daughter, Angela (Joe) Erschens of Herndon, VA. He had 14 Grandchildren, Tiffany Nebzydoski, John Nebzydoski, Jennifer Nebzydoski, Amber Charles-Pierre, Monica (Robert) Pantucci, Mark (Brandy) Ralston, Joshua Ralston, Scotty Carson, Rachel Rhoads, Damon Martin, Micah Mullen, Alec Martin, Grant Martin, Madison Martin and two great-grandchildren Barron & Claira. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at noon. Friends may visit 10 to service time. Military burial is planned for the spring. Donations may be made to either the American Heart Association or The Young Marine’s Honesdale PA
