George L. Bayly, 66, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Albany Medical Center in New York following a motorcycle accident.

Born on March 25, 1950 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late George W. and Mary E. Tenbus Bayly. He was a graduate of Honesdale High School.

George owned and operated Bayly Modular Homes for 30 years before his retirement. He continued to stay active managing rental properties and several storage facilities. He worked his entire life and always took time to lend a hand to anyone in need in any way he could.

George loved riding his motorcycle. His friends and family will miss all of his spontaneous visits where he came to see what was going on and what the heck we were doing. Anytime he was in his truck, he had his buddy Rex ride along with him. He had a great sense of humor. Whether someone met him once or became friends with he left a lasting impression on everyone. A man who liked to have a good time, he would tell everyone, “Gotta have fun Sid.”

Surviving are his children, Ashley Rogers and husband Charles of Beach Lake and Matthew Bayly of Honesdale; his brothers Richard Bayly and wife Lori of FL, Charles Bayly of Beach Lake, Edward Bayly and wife Bonnie of Syracuse, NY; his sisters, Peggy Lohman, Mary Carlile, Jean Robey and husband Sonney and Karen Buckingham and husband Bill all of Honesdale and Donna Maynard and husband Robert of Syracuse, NY; his former wife and friend, Sharon Bayly of Honesdale; many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his sons dog Rex, who he would take everywhere with him.

He was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Bayly.

His family will receive friends on Friday, July 8th, at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, 4 to 7. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517 or cancer.org.
